Welcome to the official website of the Ballycastle Angling Club.

Ballycastle Angling are responsible for providing angling on the rivers Glenshesk,Margy and Carey. These are short spaty streams and provide qualitiy angling  although it is easy for these rivers to become overcrowded.

The Club will provide permits. There are restrictions on the number of rods allowed to fish on a full DCAL permit. Any one doing so must obtain permission from
the club via the local club bailiffs or Mc Auley’s Tackle shop, Anne Street ,in Ballycastle, by obtaining a free permit.

All these rivers are home to Atlantic salmon, sea trout and a few brown trout. Most angling is for salmon and sea trout.

The angling season runs from the 1st of March until the 31st of October. Angling for smolts ( young immature salmon migrating downstream )and or kelts( surviving spawners from last previous year) in the early season is strongly discouraged and there is generally no fishing until the first floods in mid June /July.

Please see rules.
